Music
Music is an important part of our school curriculum. It often sits alongside other curriculum areas, allowing children to explore different times and cultures through the music they give us and giving children a safe environment in which to express their own thoughts and ideas, likes and dislikes and emotional responses to that which they hear.
All children at Ribby with Wrea have the opportunity to play percussion and sing as part of their Music lessons. Children in Kingfisher Class learn how to play the recorder and in Nightingale Class all children are given the opportunity to play in our Wind Band, learning a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument for a whole year.
We use Music as a way to broaden our children's experiences, taking part in the Young Voices Concerts in Manchester, events organised by Lancashire Music Service and hosting visitors to our school such as Laura Wright and Lancashire Schools Concert Band.
Miss Hargreaves is the subject leader for Music and she is supported by Mrs Murray from the Governing Body.
