Sport Premium Activities at Ribby with Wrea 2016-2017.
This year the school has been awarded £8750. The school has once again invested the sport premium in a number of ways aiming to further develop the sport provision at Ribby.
The school has continued its membership of the local sports cluster and takes part in many festivals and competitions hosted by Carr Hill High School. These events have been supported by our involvement in the local SGOs additional sports competitions allowing us the opportunity to work with schools across Fylde and Wyre. This increase in opportunities to represent the school has seen a further increase in the number of children being able to be involved in school sport.
The school has worked in partnership with the Community Team from AFC Fylde to provide a KS1 and KS2 after school club twice a week throughout the year. We have introduced yoga (Little Yogis) and continued our work with Judo, fencing, archery and other providers offering dodgeball, multi skills and tag rugby.
The school has organised and financially supported year groups attending educational visits to develop their orienteering skills, team working and communication skills and provided opportunities to undertake climbing and other activities at local centres.
Success has once again been seen on the sports field with our swimming, football and tag rugby teams all winning their respective events. Our footballers are currently embarking on an exciting journey through the National League Event and will represent Fleetwood Town in Bradford in March. They are currently 1 event away from going to Wembley!
We have seen continued high levels of numbers of children representing the school in a variety of sports and aim to build further on this as the year continues.
Curriculum coaching in orienteering, tennis and cricket is taking place in the Spring and Summer terms with the Year 5 and 6 pupils completing their Bikeability training later this year.
