Sport Premium Activities at Ribby with Wrea 2015-2016.
This year has seen further investment in developing the sporting opportunities offered at Ribby with Wrea.
The school was crowned Fylde School of the Year for Sport and as a school we are extremely proud of this achievement. It is down to the enthusiasm and motivation of our pupils and the support of our parents that we have been able to achieve so much in recent years with our sporting opportunities and we would like to thank everyone who has been on this journey with us.
The school has continued to offer a wide variety of breakfast and after school clubs including the introduction of archery and fencing - both of which proved highly popular.
Throughout the year clubs have been run throughout the week and the number of children participating has been high.
The school has continued to expand the number of festivals and competitions entered and children from KS1 and KS2 have represented the school in many events. The school is equally proud of our teams who have been successful in events and those who have experienced representing the school and leant new skills and activities. All children who represent the school are awarded a dedicated sport badge for each activity and wear these with pride on their uniforms.
The school has been extremely successful in competitions and have been Fylde champions in orienteering, girls’ football and netball. These teams represented Fylde at the Lancashire Games.
We have also had success in local events including badminton, handball, dodgeball and football.
At lunchtimes, we have continued to employ a sports leader who has overseen lunchtime football matches, cricket, hockey and many other activities - helping to keep the pupils active and engaged in sport.
The school has again been awarded the Gold Award from the School Games and is keen to develop the long-term legacy of the sport premium funding.
