We have been designated a Lead Music School by Lancashire Music Hub

Our Music curriculum encourages pupils to take part in a wide range of experiences, listening to and responding to music from across different times and genres.  Pupils have the opportunity to play instruments, sing, listen and appraise, compose and perform during each term.  In addition to this, all pupils  learn to play recorders or glockenspiels in Kingfisher Class (Year 2/3) and in Nightingale Class (Year 4/5) all pupils learn a musical instrument as part of a wind band (The Wider Opportunities Programme WOPs / Whole Class Instrumental Teaching WCIT).   Year 5/6 are currently taking part in a Vocal Studies taught by Stonyhurst's Choral Master.

As well as Music learnt in the Curriculum, pupils also have opportunity to participate in individual music lessons.  Several of our pupils have taken graded examinations over the past year.

We also offering pupils the opportunity to experience being in a 'Rock Band' through the Rock Steady programme.

Many of our KS1 and KS2 children enjoy learning a musical instrument with our peripatetic teachers.

Music Clubs

We enjoy offering a wide range of music clubs for our pupils. Over the years we have had Plastic Brass, Samba and Ukelele, dependent on children's interests.

Plastic Brass Club

The school choir meet every Wednesday after school.   We enjoy singing at events such as Lancashire Sings, Young Voices and Blackpool Choral Festival.  We are delighted to have been chosen to sing at the Bridgewater Hall in June as part of Lancashire Music Service's Festival of Music.
