Mathematics
Welcome to the Maths Page......
Mr. Hall is the subject leader for Mathematics across the school. He works closely with all members of the teaching staff to ensure the curriculum content matches the pupils' progress and national expectations and shows progression from year to year.
Mrs. Hunt is the Governor responsible for Mathematics and as a current Head teacher in a Lancashire County School, she is excellently placed to offer guidance and support to Mr. Hall and the school.
As the subject leader Mr. Hall has overseen the introduction of online platforms including MyMaths and Timestables Rockstars to help support and develop the delivery of mathematics to all pupils.
The curriculum is continually evolving and new assessments have been introduced - Timestables in Year 4 and the expanding expectations for the end of Year 6 assessments (SATs).
As well as preparing pupils for assessments the staff at Ribby actively seek to prepare pupils for the next stage of their academic journey and develop life long skills. This involves various role play scenarios i.e. shops in KS1 and practical application of mathematical skills in KS2 - measuring, weighing and showing mathematics in cross curricular subjects.
Pupils undertake a daily mathematics lesson covering arithmetic and subject specific objectives. Tracking of pupil progress is maintained though regular marking and feedback and the use of the Lancashire Tracker to record termly achievement.
If you would like to know more about the subject please feel free to contact Mr. Hall via the school office or read the Mathematics policy and Calculation policy found on this website.
